What Should Kids Wear for a Christmas Family Photoshoot in Dubai?

Every December the same question lands in family group chats across Dubai: what do the kids wear for the Christmas photo? Most parents start by buying four matching outfits. The photographers who shoot families for a living tend to say the opposite.

We asked the team at The Setup Collective, who ran a hundred Christmas sessions for Dubai families last year, what actually works in front of the camera. Here is what they told us, and where HYPE. fits in.

One outfit each. That's it.

It is tempting to plan a costume change. Don't. Changing a small child takes about fifteen minutes, and in a thirty-minute session that is half your time gone. The second half is never as good as the first, because by then everyone is tired.

Pick one outfit per person, put it on at home, and arrive ready.

Coordinate, don't match

Identical outfits make a family look like a team photo. What reads well is a shared palette: two or three colours that sit together, worn differently by each person. A navy hoodie on one child, grey joggers on another, a soft neutral on the parents.

A simple rule for the family: choose the colours first, then let each person pick something in them they would actually wear. Kids who like their clothes move more naturally, and that shows.

Comfort beats smart

The best family photos happen when children forget there is a camera. That means sitting in the snow, kneeling at a table, rolling out cookie dough. Stiff shirts and scratchy collars fight all of that.

Keep logos small
